On 27 May 1986, ITN filmed everyday scenes in the Soviet city of Leningrad. Most of the material in this video was never broadcast at the time. When the crew returned to London, the original tapes were placed in ITN’s vast archive, where they remained for nearly 40 years. Digitised by the ITN Archive in October 2025, this footage is being made publicly available here for the first time.
