Twitter was born in 2006 out of a podcasting startup called Odeo. When Apple announced iTunes podcasts, Odeoās founders scrambled for a new idea. Jack Dorsey proposed a simple concept: people sharing short status updates in real time. The first prototype was built in just two weeks, and the team used it to communicate internally before launching it publicly. An unknown fact? The very first tweetāājust setting up my twttrāāwas sent while the platform still went by its original name twttr, inspired by Flickr and the trend of dropping vowels.
