Disney Plus changed its plan in 2025 by choosing profit over popularity. By doubling the price to $159 a year, Disney stopped trying to get the most users and started focusing on making the most money. Even though they lost some subscribers, they turned a $4 billion loss into a $1.3 billion profit. Executives even joked that "streaming is dead" to justify cutting massive budgets for shows like Andor. By raising prices, stopping password sharing, and spending less on new shows, Disney proved that losing "cheap" customers was actually the smartest way to save the business and finally make Disney Plus a real moneymaker.
